This beautiful altered gift box, by Katherine Bley, caught my eye immediately! The soft colors, the very feminine detail at the top, and the personal touch of the monogram makes it a gift within it self for that someone special.

Katherine had been altering paint cans for her gift giving, but wanted to come up with something else. This is when she found out how much fun paper mache boxes were to alter. In addition to giving the boxes as gifts, Katherine found uses for them herself, such as holding her homemade cards.
She made this particular altered gift box for her sister's 45th birthday. Not only is it yummy looking on the outside, what is inside is yummy as well; she filled it with 45 pieces of her favorite chocolates. Who wouldn't like that?

To create this altered gift box, first measure width and height of the box and the lid, allowing a 1/8" gap on each side. Then cut paper of your choice to size and ink all sides. Paint the chipboard flowers and tag, then add embellishments. For the monogram, cover the chipboard letter with paper and embellish.
Viola! With Katherine's tips, you can make your very own gift box, tailored to any age or occasion.
