Pet Park

Michelle Boeckermann

Ever hear the phrase “It’s so ugly it’s cute”? Well, that doesn’t apply to any of the animals in our column this month. These owners all give simple tribute to their canine family members in these layouts. They are scrapped perfectly with color, journaling and design all combining to support the theme and make for great layouts. From soft hues, to blocking that brings out the energy in the photos, these layouts showcase the owners’ cute pets beautifully.

Design note: The journaling is printed on a transparency and placed over the smaller photo.

My Girl Lucy by Mimi Leinbach. Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill, Ribbon: Scrapworks, American Crafts, Bling, Chipboard: Heidi Swapp, Foam Stamps, Tags:Making Memories, Metal Letter: American Crafts, Paint: Delta, Ink: Ranger, Other: Metal Mesh, Jump Rings.

Design note: : I used embroidery floss and did a cross stitch both as photo corners and as a border on the left. I stitched a heart around the clear heart and also stitched our dog's name - Bandit. I inked the clear hearts so they would show up more.

Man’s Best Friend by Jean Marmo. Supplies: Paper: Deja Views, Hearts: Heidi Swapp, Ribbon: Offray, Flowers: Prima, Alphabet: KI Memories, Other: Cardstock, Embroidery Floss, Chipboard.

Journaling: Bandit is an 8 year old golden retriever who is our best friend. He is always there to sit with you and to be your friend.

Editor's note: By using clean lines and a tight grouping for the central block of photos, title and journaling, Jolene was able to use a “busy”, word-filled background paper without detracting from the subject.

Doggone Cute by Jolene Johnston. Supplies: Paper: Creative Imagination, Laser cut title: Scrapbook 101, Ink: Tsukineko, Flocked Brads: The Paper Company, Brads: Making Memories, Sketch: Di Hickman, Other: Cardstock.
