I can do that!

Dora Phillips

This month we continue our scrapping game series with one called "I can do that!"  Did you ever see the musical "A Chorus Line", or even the movie version?  One of my favorite songs includes the chorus of "anything you can do, I can do better, I can do anything better than you" and includes a flurry of a dance challenge where one person performs a series of steps and the next tries to imitate and challenge to go beyond.

We decided to try the same idea in scrapping.  Each team member brought 3 items to the scrapping table:  one technique, one product, and one inspirational picture.  The team members then had to draw from these 9 items on one page.  And just to make it a smidge more fun we mixed in a paper scrapper, hybrid scrapper, and digi scrapper on each team.  Have fun trying this with your scrapping gang!

Our team mixed in stitching, paper tearing and inking for our techniques and then added in brads, chipboard, and bling for our products.   You can see our 3 inspiration pictures combined below.  Can you find all 9 inspirations on each layout?

Design note: : I admit to being a bit worried at how I was going to do digitally what my partners were able to do with paper. I started with the inspiration pieces. I took the copper colors from the coins, the blocks made me want to try several layered journal spots, and the doodled cloud led me to a doodled title. From there, I dipped into the fabulous actions at Atomic Cupcake to make bling, stitches, chipboard, inking happen on my page. Thanks for the fun inspiration, team!

Love by Dora Phillips. Supplies: Paper: Fall Frolic by Dora Phillips for ScrapStreet.com, BHG Fall Freebies by Katie Pertiet, Font: Kristin ITC, All other items made using actions: Atomic Cupcake.

Design note: The biggest challenge for me was pulling inspiration from three different pictures. Once I started putting it together, it all just started flowing. It was a lot of fun and I am very happy with my end result.

First Steps by Heather Casper.   Supplies: Paper: Miss Elizabeth’s, Cardstock: Die Cuts With a View, Chipboard: Cosmo Cricket, Rub-on: Transfer titles, Stamps: Fiskar's Clear Borders, Brads: Making Memories.

Design note: : I used the torn paper and a brad and the blocking from Heather's inspiration. I liked the inking and bling with the bottom 1/3rd border and center photo placement from Dora's inspiration, and used chipboard and inking with the copper/goldish color from my inspiration.

Amy by Terry McAuliffe. Supplies: Paper: Sandylion, Ribbons: In a Nutshell, Other: Chipboard.
