All About the Arrow
Michelle McClung
|
 |
Arrows are one of my favorite scrapbooking trends of the moment. These wonderful embellishments and not only cute, but can have many purposes on your page. They can put emphasis on your title, photo, something in the photo, or your journaling. They can create movement on a page by
providing a path for your eyes to follow. They can lend support to your title by demonstrating key words like big, higher, growing up, etc… The arrows can also be used to show us the sequence of photos in a multi photo layout.
Look at the following layouts and see what the arrows are demonstrating - emphasis, movement, support, direction or a combination.

note: I wanted this layout to be fun and focus on my son's flirty nature. I used the chipboard tags with rub-ons jazzed up with flowers so he could always look back on each crush. I pointed the arrow to his cute little pucker to emphasize those lips.

Journaling:
Peyton is our little "Casanova." It all started when he went into pre-k 4. He'd come home and tell me he had been kissing Heather. Then, he started kindergarten, and it was Sarah & Autumn. Next thing you know, he had added Megan & Anna to the list. When I asked him why he is always kissing girls, he said "because I like them and they let me!" Well, there you have it. He started public school mid-year, and hadn't mentioned any new "girlfriends" from school. When I asked, he said, "I like Gabby, but we aren't allowed to kiss at this school." Probably just as well, it won't be so cute when he's 13!

note: I sanded around the photos and drew around the rub-on letters to add more definition.
Journaling: Dream BIG. Don't be afraid. Quote reads, "Come to the edge. We might fall. Come to the edge. It's too high. COME TO THE EDGE. And they came, and he pushed, and they flew. -Christopher Logue.

Design
note: This layout is all about the reasons why I scrapbook (with supporting photos.) I used a large arrow made with striped paper and a chipboard photo corner to move the viewer's eye from the first part of the title (I Scrapbook) to the last part (Because.). While I do love the photos on this layout, it is mostly about the title and the journaling, which comprise a good portion of the layout. I also alternated my handwritten journaling strips with sticker strips that list words and phrases that support my journaling.

: "I want to showcase the results of my other favorite hobby, photography. I want to document our family's history for my children and future generations. I won't always be able to remember, and I want to preserve my precious memories. I want to share my thoughts and feelings with those I love. I need the creative outlet."
