A Little Editing With Big Results
If you like to show your scrapbook layouts in
your online galleries or even submit them to
magazines for possible publication, you will
probably want to make sure you present your work
the best way possible.
In the 2007 November issue we talked about
straightening your images and cropping out
everything in the background. This month we will
continue with some editing tips on how to
improve your presentations even more.
I will start with a photo of a layout, straight
from my camera, which I cropped and straightened
as described in the November issue. I also
resized the image to 500 x 500 pixels in 300 ppi
(pixels per inch)
since ScrapStreet works with this image size for
the magazine.

Color
If you have an image
that needs some correcting you can use the
automated color correction in Photoshop. I will
use Photoshop CS3 (and CS2) in this example.
Image > Adjustments >
Auto Color

You can tweak this
effect immediately after you apply auto color by
going to the edit menu and choose Fade Auto
Color.
Edit > Fade Auto Color

In the Fade dialog, drag
the Opacity slider to the left to reduce the
Auto Color effect and until the photo looks good to
you. Click OK.
