Happy February!
I look outside my
window at piles and piles of snow and then over at
my dwindling pile of pictures to scrap. In the
spring, summer, and fall, I take hundreds of
pictures each and every week. And then in
winter, my camera and I seem to hibernate. Oh,
I take the snowman, the sledding, the first
snowfall, but then the next snowfall and the next
snowman seem to look the same. Same snowsuits
on the kids, same rosy cheeks, same exact shots.
I was thrilled to read Photo Stop this month with
ideas for some portrait photo shoots. After
all, our groundhog always sees his shadow bringing 6
or 8 or even 12 more weeks of winter.
One of the fun
things about having an international group of online
scrapping friends is realizing that everyone has a
bit of a different winter experience. One of
our Texas friends took her kids to a carnival last
weekend. Definitely not something we midwest
folks could even imagine. A friend in rural
France is busy gardening and spring cleaning in
between rain storms. And, in a freak bout of
winter weather, an Alabama gal managed to scoop up
enough snow to make a 6-inch snowman before running
out for milk, bread, and toilet paper -- southern
storm staples. So while I am typing this in my
flannel jammies and two pair of socks, somewhere a
friend has on flip flops and a fun story to tell.
I will look at their scrap pages, giggle at their
stories, and remember that spring is only a happy
thought (and a heck of a long time) away.
Excuse me.
Time to grab some props and set up a bit of a photo
shoot. If I crank up the heat, I can always
pretend it is spring, right?
May your month be full of love,
