Welcome our newest Discovery Drive scrapbooking
artist, Audrey Yeager! I’m more than excited to
introduce Audrey to you, not only because of her
exquisite scrapbook pages, but because of her
photography as well. Audrey really seems to have
a sense about the world, shown through her lens
at all angles! Right under her scrapbook layout
gallery was the most wonderful gallery of
photographs that I just had to ask her to share.
You should do the same! Some of her favorites
are below (and some of my favorites, too – I
just love that teal broken-down window on the
coral wall – reminds me of my honeymoon!) and I
urge you to look closely at some of her
techniques, angles, colors and subjects as well.
On to Audrey’s fun scrapbooking! Ever heard of
beautiful chaos? That was my exact thought when
I met Audrey’s scrapbooking – there is no rhyme
or reason to her page design, yet the end
results are just stunning. You’ll see what I
mean in these examples of her work: lovely
journaling in Fall, gorgeous and
depth-full butterflies in Madeline, and
hearts in The Hearts of Boldt Castle.
These are all wonderful samples of just adding
the perfect touch to a fun and colorful
scrapbook page.
Congratulations, Audrey, I think your work,
scrapbooking and photography alike, is just
stunning! Best of luck with your future
“projects”, including the one due next spring!

Design
Notes:
I cut out the brown shaped border from the
Target patterned paper and glued it to the
tree patterned paper. I alternated strips
of journaling with ribbon.

Madeline by Audrey Yeager. Supplies:
Paper: Basic Grey, Jenny Bowlin, Cardstock:
Creative Imaginations, Gemstones: Glitz,
Letters: American Crafts, Glitter: Ranger.
Journaling:
You were a bit scared at first to go on this
train ride. But once we got going, and the wind
was blowing through your hair and the train was
blowing its whistle, you had a blast! June
2008.
Design note:
The vellum paper is printed with a design that I
scanned from a piece of clothing! The pattern
is from a black and white skirt. I scanned it,
and then printed it on my printer on vellum.
The journaling circle is actually the scalloped
border paper. I cut a circle through the photo
and the pink patterned paper to expose the lines
of the background paper. The butterflies are
cut from another piece of patterned paper. |
The Hearts of Boldt Castle by Audrey Yeager.
Supplies: Paper, journaling tag, sticker letters, heart tag and sticker:
Sassafras Lass, Ribbon: Target, Michaels,
Hinge: Oriental Trading Company, Other:
transparencies, acrylic paint.
Journaling:
The story of George Boldt and his life and
tragedies is Heart breaking. But it is also so
inspiring to see how much he loved his wife and
what he did for her. I will try to put my heart
into everything I do for you.
Design note:
The side bar with the hearts flips open to
expose more photos and pieces of the brochure
from the castle. In the title, the “Boldt
Castle” logo is from the brochure. I glued it
to chipboard and inked the edges. Below the
photos is another piece of information from the
brochure. I cut the edges with decorative
scissors and inked them. I used
transparencies and cut out heart shapes
(free-hand), then painted them with pink acrylic
paint to make them stand out more. |

Editor’s Note:
I truly believe some of the art of
scrapbooking comes with good photography.
Take a look at some of Audrey’s skills,
angles, subjects, lighting and color.

My name
is Audrey Yeager and I am addicted to
scrapbooking! My love for scrapbooking
actually began as a love of photography. I
wanted to have an outlet to share my photos
and memories, and scrapbooking is it! I
first started about 5 years ago when I
wanted to share some photos from a Halloween
costume party. When I went out to look for
supplies, I was overtaken by all the fun
papers and embellishments! Five years (and
God knows how much money!) later, I am still
addicted to this hobby.
I am a
32-year-old biology teacher, married to my
wonderful husband Keith for one year. My
husband and I just recently found out that
we are expecting our first child next
spring! But for now, we live in Spring,
Texas with our three cats, Monty, Abu, and
Nookie, and our “first” child (some people
think she is actually a dog) Chloe. We
moved to Texas from Syracuse, NY (our native
area) about a year and a half ago. In
addition to scrapbooking, I love to take
photos, cook, play volleyball, and go for
walks with my hubby and Chloe.
I am
currently designing for
Sugar N’
Spice Scrapbook, and
ScrapCity.
