Chic Street

Jennifer Wuthrich

November at my house is a busy time of year.  We have birthday parties galore, an anniversary, Thanksgiving (for those of us living state side), and the kick off of the craziest time of the year… Christmas!

Even though November is a crazy month for me, it is also one of my favorite months of the year.  The crisp air, the smells of goodies baking, and a holiday that reminds us all to be more thankful for what we are blessed with rank high on the list of why November is my favorite time of the year.

As this month approaches again this year, I find myself thinking about the simple things in life that we often take for granted.

Design note:

I loved the idea of keeping the color palette the same for the picture, paper and embellishments.  The photo becomes the main focus even though there are a lot of elements on this layout.

Simple Things by Kazan Clark. Supplies: Paper: BasicGrey, KI Memories, Flowers: Prima, Punch: Martha Stewart, Ribbon: Making Memories, Stamp: 7 Gypsies, Rub-on: Scenic Route, Other: buttons.

Design note:

These photographs were taken by my daughter of herself, and I could not resist doing a simple but intricate layout to show off the black and white photographs.  As is my MO, lots of hand cutting and pen work on this layout, using my white pigment pen and black and gold pen.

Self Portrait Candy Rosenberg. Supplies: Paper: Basic Grey, Pens: Crafters Workshop, Stamp: Laundry Line, Photography:  Chelsea Rosenberg.

Journaling: Chelsea, Self Portrait 2008

Design note:

When I get a coordinating set of papers, I always look for the hidden 'extras'. The butterflies and scalloped paper borders were cut by hand from a piece of paper and used as embellishments. Also, to give the butterflies added dimension, I lightly folded the butterfly in half and then glued ONLY down the center.

Fly Away by Cindy Stevens. Supplies: Paper: K & Company, Scenic Route, Felt Alpha: Making Memories, Bling: Kaiser Kraft, Chipboard: Maya Road, Buttons: American Crafts, Pen: Le Pen, Other: floss.
