Card Corner

Jennifer Keefer

Welcome to Card Corner!  Fall and Thanksgiving are fast approaching for most of us.  Living in Texas I do not get the full effect of fall.  Our leaves turn from green to brown overnight, or so it seems.  It's just a part of living in the south.  That doesn't stop us from celebrating and decorating for fall and Thanksgiving, though.  Through the holidays 'kiddie art' is a must for decorating.  Janneke used a piece of her son's art for making this cute Turkey Day card.  Love the idea!  I can feel the warmth from each of the cards.

Design note:

I took a photo of a large paper turkey my son made in Kindergarten and used this on a card. I printed a funny Thanksgiving poem to go with the turkey and adhered it to a chipboard rectangle.

Editor's note:  I love that Janneke used her son's kindergarten artwork to make a card.  Several copies can be made of the same card and sent to family and friends while Janneke keeps the original.  Great gift idea!

Turkey Card by Janneke Smit. Supplies: Papers, Ribbon: Daisy D's, Card base: Halcraft, Chipboard: Bazzill Basics Paper, Brads: Junkitz, Pen:  ZIG, Other:  scrap cardstock.

Journaling: The Turkey is a funny bird / His head goes wobble, wobble, / but all that he can ever say / is Gobble, Gobble, Gobble.

Design note:

When I made the card I realized I had no stamp or rub-on greeting that would fit in the sentiment space, so I used my computer to make my own rub-on greeting. Works like a charm and it's fully customizable!!!

Editor's Note:  I love the simplicity of Di's card and that she didn't 'scrap' it when she realized she didn't have a sentiment to fit in the space.  She found a way to make it work.

Happy Thanksgiving by Di Hickman.  Supplies: Cardstock: Die Cuts With A View, Paper, Ribbon, Brads: Boxer Scrapbooks, Chipboard: American Crafts, Mesh: Magic Mesh, Font: Rage Italic.

Sentiment: Happy Thanksgiving

Design note:

I really enjoyed getting extra mileage out of the tag that came with the SEI Paper Pack. I used the tag to add focus to the card and greeting.

Hello by Melissa Priest.  Supplies: Paper, Cardstock, Tag: SEI, Alphabet Stickers: Scrap Works.

Editor's note:  I love the colors Melissa chose for her card.  It makes me think of an early fall.  I also like the generalized greeting.  It leaves several possibilities for the inside greeting.
