Digi Discovery

Lindsey Krauss

Wow, wait until you meet our newest digital discovery! Let me introduce Emily McBride, a digital scrapbooker coming to us from Mesa, Arizona. Emily’s pages are as hot as Mesa’s weather – check it out. What first caught this discoverer’s eye was Emily’s clever use of color. This first page, “At This Moment”, was so inspiring and unique in so many ways. Emily took the cutest (and well taken or colored) photograph and paired it with gorgeous greens and bold patterns to create the perfect page for this little one. Story told in four words!

Take a look at Emily’s other color choices, whether in digital kits she uses and combines, or color changes she decides upon to complete her digital vision. Her pages are just truly so sweet – right down to her son’s chalk play, put on a page that is just as sweetly scribbled as his sidewalk!

Emily’s sure not afraid of photography, either. Combine all those wonderful scrapbooking attributes: color, design, photography, and you’ve got one very talented artist on your hands. Congratulations, Emily, and we hope you continue on your sweet artist path.

Design Notes: Some times pictures don't match the colors of paper or elements that I want to use. So I chose to overlay the green paper and make my photo work with the papers by making it green. Take the paper you would like to overlay on your photo and add it to the top layer of your photo. Change the layer to color or overlay and play around with the settings till you get the desired affect.

Journaling: Kennedy 2.5 months old.

Editor’s note: Why go with traditional baby colors for all baby photographs? Emily cleverly chooses a wonderfully warm palette for this beautiful baby page. Her layering is also as exquisite as her color choice is.  What a happy baby and a happy page!

Berry Cute by Emily McBride. Supplies: Everything From: Sweet on You Kit: Traci Reed, Some Items Recolored, Ribbons: Stitched Ribbon: Summer Driggs Happiness Kit (recolored), Ric Rac & Dot Ribbons: Strawberries for Olivia Kit Hollie VanDenBurg, (recolored), Stitch on Frame: Cinnamon Breeze By Monica Sunshine studios (recolored), Font: Base 02 Buttons (recolored): HotMamma2B Kit: Lauren Reid.

Editor’s Note: How sweet is this page!? Wise choices in kit selection prevail over very appropriately colored theme and embellishments. Can’t find what you’re looking for in your digital scrapbooking collection? Try creating it.

Design note: Recolor elements and papers to match the photos better. The strawberries and hearts were originally red.

Design note:

I had pictures of my daughter from the same day. I just changed up her journaling and changed a few things like the papers or chalk swirl to be more girly and I had two pages done for both my kids within a matter of hours.

Color of Childhood by Emily McBride. Supplies: Background Paper: Happy Kit (little dreamer) Julia Makotinsky, Everything Else from Squiggle It Kit: Robin Carlton & Christy Lyle, Font: Decker.

Journaling: We went outside and played with the new chalk we had just bought that day. You really loved the new 3-D glasses that we had bought. You'd tell me to draw more so the pictures would "come up" and you could see them through your magic glasses.

I'm a stay at home mom of two kids, a boy (5 yrs.) and a girl (19 months). I've been married to my high school sweetheart for 9.5 years. I work part time at a scrapbook store and fell in love with digital scrapbooking about a year ago. I love that you can reuse and change the color of just about everything. And the fact that there is no clean up is the best... plus I don't have to worry about the little ones running away with my supplies.
