Digital
Design Programs
Hello again all, Digi here,
Well,
time for little look over past digi columns. I
see so many are taking up digi design and it
must be a godsend for those who need to make a
little extra money for the family budget. I can
fully understand that at the moment.
There is a lot out there notably
The Gimp 2. Open source software, which
means it is available for those techies to
download and work on to improve. Get the Gimp
and there are plenty of extras available and
more becoming available such as brushes and
add-ons, plug-ins, and the like. I found it a
little difficult to get round the workspace as
it is labeled a little differently than PS and
PSP, but get your head round that and you
couldn't do better.
Unless of course you want something a little
more simple. Then try
Art Weaver, although it seems more familiar
than simple because of its likeness to
Photoshop. It is freeware. The free program is
very adequate and is so similar to the set up
and labeling of Photoshop, it could be PS's
smaller sibling. There are plug-ins and add-ins
available for this, too.
I
would recommend anyone to give it a try, see if
you get on with it and play with it until you
are familiar with what all the bits do, then
download a trial of Photoshop for 30 days, see
the difference and see if you want to purchase
the Photoshop program. You can try Adobe
Photoshop Elements, too, which is a slightly
less complicated but still fully-featured
program. Of course if money isn't an object,
then Photoshop is hard to beat. It has
actions and scripts to simplify tasks, and Adobe
Bridge links it to many other Adobe products
seamlessly . On the Adobe website there are
plenty of things to read about, how to, bits
like styles and actions, brushes, etc., and
great
Tutorials.
There are many more free art design programs out
there . Some of them have free trials for 30
days or more some are free, with basic access
compared to the paid version.
Try searching with Google for free graphic
design software, Go to reliable download centers,
such as Cnet's download.com and vnuet.
Another download center is computeractive.co.uk,
and tucows. All are reliable and your chances
of accidently downloading a virus or other are
minimal.
Digi is off the next month of November, surfing.
Surfing the net that is, to bring you the
greatest selection of blogs that will help you
in your understanding of the digital scrapping
design process. Look out for the Digi Was Here
comment on your blog and see your blog featured
by Auntie Digi here on ScrapStreet.
That's all for now darlings.
