Discovery Drive

 Lindsey KRauss

Welcome to Discovery Drive! Ready for a long trip? This month, we’re traveling all the way to Singapore to drive with our newest discovery, Hayati!

Hayati’s fun and funky style immediately catches everyone’s interest, and her attention to detail and layering keeps it! Her fun colors and wonderful family photographs are often the center of her scrapbooking; she embellishes her memories as colorfully as her spirit and personality shine though. Her disposition and outlook on paper sure is as sunny as her homeland!

Oh, and the other thing you’re likely to learn from Hayati? How to use what we lovingly call stash! As you get to know Hayati, take a close look at her work and watch all that extra love she puts onto a page – just lovely work and use of a good scrapbooking supply!

Congratulations, Hayati! It was wonderful to meet and to get to know you – enjoy your stay with us!

Editor’s Note: Texture, texture and more texture! Try Hayati’s texturing techniques by inking at different levels and mediums and with different colors. Leave some layers bright to enhance dimension.

Nur Dini by Hayati. Supplies: Paper: Daisy D's, 7 Gypsies, Creative Imaginations, Alpha: American Crafts, Stamp: Imaginesce, Rub-ons: 7 Gypsies, BasicGrey, Flower: Prima, Bazzill, Stickers: 7 Gypsies, Chipboard: Queen & Co.

Adore by Hayati. Supplies: Paper: Daisy D's, Crate Paper, Alpha: American Crafts, Rub-ons: BasicGrey, 7 Gypsies, Diecuts With A View, Chipboard: Junkitz, Maya Road, Overlay: Hambly, Brads: Making Memories.

Editor’s Note: Let the angle do the talking. If your photo was not taken with the angling that you wish, tilt the photo, mat or other supplies on the page. This can enhance mood and emotion. If your photo was taken with an angle, like this one from Hayati, try keeping all other embellishments in straight lines, except for just one!

Thankful by Hayati. Supplies: Paper: Sassafras Lass, Alpha: Scenic Route, Rub-ons: 7 Gypsies, Stamp: Autumn Leaves, Stickers: Making Memories, Glitter: Ranger.

Editor’s Note: Cluster it! You’ve seen and heard about clustering, but have you tried different places on the page? Hayati placed her photo and title at the top center of her page to bring the images and people in the photo and the meaning of the page to the forefront. Try different corners and sides to produce your own meaning and photo spotlight.

Editor’s Note: Use the whole page! Don’t shy away from using busy patterns and bright colors: placing them correctly all over the page can create a really neat blending affect, making your photo stand out even more.

Asyraf by Hayati. Supplies: Paper: Scenic Route, Alpha: American Crafts, Chipboard: Maya Road, Flowers: Prima, Rub-ons: 7 Gypsies, Sticker: 3 Bugs in a Rug, Overlay: Hambly, Tag: 7 Gypsies.

Journaling: I can never find the right word to describe my feelings the 1st time I look at you. U were my dream came true. Suddenly it became real after waiting for almost 3 years. I was finally a mother, your mother.

About the Designer

Hi! My name is Hayati, from the sunny island of Singapore. I am a WAHM & together with my wonderful husband, we have 3 beautiful children, ages 12, 10 & 6. I started scrapbooking in late 2006 & still love it! It's like a form of stress relief for me, especially when I did all the intricate cutting (many called me crazy! LOL). My main subjects are definitely my kids. I just love taking their photos & now I went one step further, putting them together with the beautiful stash available.

Thanks ScrapStreet Magazine for featuring me! It's a great honor & you have made me one happy scrapper!!!
