Feeling Flowerful?

 Di Hickman

April showers brings May flowers, that’s how the saying goes, and that is definitely true in my garden this time of year! What about you? Feeling flowerful? Whether you’re taking photos of flowers, scrapbooking with them or using them for inspiration in some way on your projects, you’re sure to find inspiration at Scrapstreet this month!

One of my favorite choices of patterned paper is floral, and there are as many different styles and variety of floral papers as there are flowers! Whether it’s small delicate floral patterns, strong designs, or doodles there is something for everyone, for every style and to suit every photo.

Design note:  Instead of just taking photos of the “traditional” flowers in your garden look beyond and take pictures of the weeds! Remember a weed is just a plant in the wrong place! Plus usually they have the best textures! I paired the photo with soft orange and green hues to make the most of the photo. I added brown paint to the chipboard alpha so it didn’t look so harsh on the page.

Journaling: It’s a constant battle! I spend time out the back and the front garden begins to suffer. As much as I hate thistles they’re pretty!

The Earth Laughs in Flowers by Donna Russell. Supplies: Paper: Deja Views, Paint: Heidi Swapp, Foil: Pine Cone Press, Ribbon: Pine Cone Press, Stamps: Making Memories, Ink: Nick Bantock, Other: Zipper, fabric.

Design note: I trimmed a piece of fabric into the "V" shape, and cutting it down the middle I used my sewing machine to stitch the zipper on. I also trimmed a piece of patterned paper into my "V" shape, starting with the 12" edge and tapering down to the middle of the bottom edge. On this Paper, I adhered my matted photo and the wooden letter title and an assortment of flowers I cut out and painted. The "V" edges of the fabric were then glued down to the back sides of the patterned paper. The finished "V" was adhered onto another 12x12 piece of patterned paper, which I backed up with a piece of cardstock to make it sturdier. I stamped more flowers, painted and doodled on them, and adhered them to my page with pop dots. The foil title was done by stamping my letters using embossing ink and clear powder. Then I placed the foil over the letters and rubbed over them.

Design note: The word art was provided in black. I used the "remove color" enhancement to change it to white so it would pop off the page
