As many of you know, I spent five years living in Mexico. While I enjoyed my time there and learning the culture I have to say the one thing I looked forward to when going to the border was seeing the huge American flag flying high just across the border. Once we crossed the border I began seeing the Red, White and Blue combo everywhere. A symbol of 'home' and a reminder of why I am proud to be an American.
Each of the pages you see share a special meaning of the red, white and blue. Lynnette shares a memorable trip to Washington, DC
for her husband. Each page reminding us how powerful the red, white and blue are; all American.

Design note: lI did lots of hand cutting the shapes from the patterned paper.
Journaling: There is nothing as majestic as seeing the flag flying high at Chimney Rock. Flying at an elevation of 2,280 feet, the flag overlooks Lake Lure and can be seen for miles. I love being on the rock hearing the flag chopping in the wind.

Heather Watson.
Design note: E.O.W. stands for End of Watch. It is the term
used for the day a Law Enforcement Officer is killed in the line of duty.
Deputy Fabiano (not Detective...my error when making the layout) was
killed on May 16, 2007 during a "routine" traffic stop. His killer's
sentencing was on April 10th. He received a life sentence with no parole.
I was compelled to do this layout because my fiance is a third shift police
sargeant in the same county as Deputy Fabiano. The photos are from the
National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial in Washington DC.
It's a little-known memorial that is tucked in the middle of some
governmental buildings in an out of the way place that most visitors wouldn't
venture to. This month's (May 2008) Police Week activities will include
Deputy Fabiano's name being added to the memorial as well as his name being read at the memorial.

Design note:
There was nothing tricky about this one - just added border strokes on the three small pictures and layered the elements. The real trick is to find such a handsome husband!!
