The word DARE is not a new one to any of us. Often it is introduced on the playground or at a sleepover with friends. We all want to know how daring everyone is. Not much has changed over the years. Sure, our playground has changed but we are still set out to show how daring we are.
A dare is a risky challenge one person suggests to another, to try to get the person to prove their courage. That is just what the ladies over at
www.thedigidares.com are counting on.
So, just what are the dares? Digi Scrap Challenges to you and to the darers. Each week these ladies post a new dare and upload their layouts for inspiration. The team hopes to inspire you to step 'outside the box' and grow as a scrapper. Everyone is welcome to play along, which is what they count on!
We recently caught up with Traci Reed for an inside peek at the digi-dares. Here is what she shared with us:
What first Impression are you hoping to capture with your title "Digi-Dares"? And what are the overall goals of the site, and the team as a whole?
There have been other challenge blogs in the past based on a "dare" theme and when our fearless leader, Kate Hadfield, decided to start The Digi Dares, she expanded on that theme to create a challenge blog for the digital scrappers too! Our goals are to inspire, first and foremost. We want you to scrap in a way or a subject that you normally wouldn't. Secondly, we also want to spread the digi love too! We give over $200 in prizes away to our winners each month! We have fabulous sponsors from all over the community to help us with that, and there's nothing better than RAKing our participants with coupons!
Since creating the blog, have you found that your own challenges to others have helped open up a new chapter in your own personal scrapping? If so, how?
I can't answer for the creation of the blog, but I know that since I started participating in the dares, I've scrapped many things I never would have in the past and opened up to using new product and expanding my scrapping vocabulary that way through our sponsors as well. I scrap myself a lot more often, that's for sure!
Working as a team, in any sense of the phrase, can be both very rewarding and very challenging.
How do you feel that your individual strengths and weaknesses contribute to your site and the challenges you introduce to the scrapping community? Do you all take turns coming up with a challenge? Or is it a group effort for each challenge idea?
We rotate our dares through the team as a cycle every couple months, so each week, the dare is brought to you by a different person on the team, which is a very fun thing because Karah might be on a different wavelength than I am that week and she might come up with a Dare that I never would have thought of! This also can make it hard for us as well if a dare just doesn't inspire us, but that's the fun!
Read on for more
information on how you can play along with
the Digi Darers Team.

Don't be afraid to layer up your elements! I created the flowers on my page by layering a bunch of individual flowers together to create a fun and funky look!

note:
Scrapbooking is not about remembering yourself in your most beautiful clothes or with perfect hair. Use the blurry pictures, the imperfect pictures, or the pictures that you accidentally chopped yourself out of. Don't be afraid to keep it simple, and don't be afraid to get messy.

Journaling:
My life is beautiful, but
definitely never simple. Life lessons can
sometimes remind me to just enjoy the
moment. I am always becoming more because I
know that through God, I can do anything.
There is so much to love but my life can be
too much at times to keep on. I like my
comfort and that means that I don't always
play like I should. I need to keep growing,
turn my life up, have some adventure, and
grow into the beautiful woman God has
intended me to be. God is doing it
differently and I'm ready for authenticity.
Being Part of the Digi Dare Team: My name is Brittany and I am a 20-something teacher by day and life artist by night. I've been embracing my life art for three years and I have loved my creative journey. I was STOKED when I discovered the Digi-Dares were holding their first (and so far, only) open call for new Darers. I have totally enjoyed getting to create with so many different people and I love how unique we all are. One of my favorite things is to see a Dare come to life...how each Darer has interpreted a Dare never ceases to amaze me.

Design note: Don't worry about trying to fit into a certain style. Whatever you do will be your style. Just focus on the story and you will be just fine. And most importantly, have fun!

Being Part of the Digi Dare Team:
From the moment the Digi Dares started I knew I wanted to be a part of the team. I've always loved being challenged to scrap about topics I might not normally scrap about. I love being able to inspire others to do the same.

note:
You just feeling free... for play with shadows, colors, textures and forms. A bad photo can will be the 'better' photo, just look at
it and fly with your imagination.
Usually I use landscapes in my pages, through them I can feel the beautiful of life, an inanimate object can talk as much as a person on your page. And never forget to enjoy when you create!
