Chic Street

  Jennifer Wuthrich

Working out and getting fit is something that always crossed my mind as summer time and hot weather approaches. Let’s face it, who doesn’t want to look and feel great in their bathing suit while poolside with their children?  I know I sure would love to.

It’s true, like many of you I have tried my share of “shape up” exercises and fad diets. I always start them eager and excited for change but sadly none of them have my abs looking anything like any infomercial out there. Let’s face it, it’s hard to make changes and shape and sculpt our bodies unless we are really prepared to put in the “hard work” which might include cutting out those trips to the local ice cream shop and exchanging your favorite reality TV show for a some grueling hours at the gym.

Design note:

For the “roughed up distressed” edges on the floral paper, I slightly wet the edges and distressed them using just my fingernail. To give some depth and texture to design, I hand stitched around the shape of the page. I also added some fun stitching to the little corner felt piece to tie in the black for balance. I kept balance in color going with my button placements; gold at the top, gold at the bottom of the photo, and gold to the side.

Dave and Sunny by Carrie Ferrier. Supplies: Paper: Making Memories, Felt: Fancy Pants, Buttons: Creative Café, Stickers: Making Memories, Karen Foster, Chipboard: Maya Road, Other: stitching.

Journaling: “Bringing our Sunny kitty home”

Journaling: Mrs. Burnside was kind enough to buy everyone tickets to the Mud Hens game in Toledo before they moved. We went with the Lazar's, Barwig's, Burnsides and the Deer boys. The Mud Hens lost, but we all had a great time. The 6th grade girls even made it onto the big screen, with their dancing, while waiting for the fireworks to start. August 2007

Mudhens by Karen Shand. Supplies: Paper: Scrappin’ Sports and More, Ink: Clearsnap, Stickers: Scrappin’ Sports and More, Font: Benguiant Frisky, Other: baseball ticket.

Design note: First cut a 12-inch circle from black cardstock. Cut a slightly smaller circle from patterned paper and attached to the center of cardstock. Cut a large square from a different piece of patterned paper and adhere to background. Trim off excess paper to keep the original circle shape of the layout. Cut the baseball and bat out of patterned paper. Punch three squares from green patterned paper for additional embellishments. Ink all edges and adhere the elements to the page. Place letter stickers at the bottom of the page, overlapping the pictures. Print journaling onto white cardstock, cut into strips, ink and add to the layout.

Design note:

To accentuate the bubbles printed on the paper, I went all around them in buttons.

Bubble Bath by Andrea Deer. Supplies: Paper: Scrappin’ Sports and More, Bazzill, Prima, Rub-ons: Scrappin’ Sports and More, Button: Doodlebug, Tools: EK Success.

Journaling: For Nolan, taking a bubble bath is like playing in a swimming pool on a hot, summer day. His face lights up, he smiles & he giggles & to his Mommy's dismay... he splashes water ALL over the bathroom. January 2008 ~ 2 1/2 years old.
