Summer's To Do List

  Lindsey Krauss

Welcome summer! With the end of school, the arrival of warm weather (in this hemisphere), and newly found time on our hands, I guess there are just some things you can’t forget to do during summer! We started out with listing summer favorites, which quickly turned into a whole bunch of activities that you just can’t do without this season.

First thing we think of during this time of super warm temperatures is anything water! Think ocean, lakes, ponds, pools, water parks, water inflatable fun… or how about just a hose and a bathing suit in the front yard!

Take a look at a few of our favorite water showcases. Becky brilliantly brings movement by design to her daughter’s water fun. Karen brings richness and class with color and design to a snapshot of two friends basking in the sun. Becky also signifies a special time, a time spent with family, with a quieter and sophisticated page, subtlety a key factor when placing elements and journaling.

Any guesses what the second favorite summer activity was?

Design note:

By using circles I created the feel of my daughter spinning in the water. I used the Stickles to add to the some shimmer to the circles as though it were glistening water.

Water Spinning by Beckie Dreyer. Supplies: Paper: Rusty Pickle, Buttons: Rusty Pickle, Stickers: Rusty Pickle, Glitter: Ranger, Other: pen.

Journaling: Rocky Bay ... What you do best ... Play

Design note: Under the card stock that I used to matte the photo is a glitter scalloped edge. I put notebook paper reinforces along the edge of the back side then turned over and the circles formed the scallop, then I just added glitter. This is a great way to add a bit of sparkle to any layout.

Beauties by Karen Taylor. Supplies: Paper: Making Memories, K & Co., Cardstock: Bazzill, Paper Reflections, Punches: Paper Studios, EK Success, Buttons: Autumn Leaves, Brads: Making Memories, Chipboard: BasicGrey, Letters: American Crafts, Making Memories, Glitter: Ranger, Art Institute, Plastic flowers: American Crafts, Paper clips: 7 Gypsies, Other: embroidery floss (DMC), emery paper, reinforcers.

Design note:

As I used a large photo I didn't want to use lots of journaling on the page so I hid some behind the postcard.

Time With Dad by Beckie Dreyer. Supplies: Paper: Rusty Pickle, Buttons: Rusty Pickle , Trims: Rusty Pickle, Chipboard: Rusty Pickle, Alphabet: Heidi Swapp, Ink: Ranger, Other: pen.

Journaling: To My Mummy, Nohoval, Co Cork. Dear Mummy, Today daddy and I went out on a big boat called 'The Spirit of Oysterhaven'. We sailed from Daddy’s work to Crosshaven. We had lots of fun!
