The Leftovers

If you're like me, you have half open packages, all the Zs and Qs are left in your never-ending stash of chipboard alphabets, and you're careful to make sure that last rub-on is safely saved just for that perfect spot on a layout later down the road. Yes, I am a self proclaimed saver of all things scrappy. I rarely toss anything unused, and can honestly say my drawers are full of bits and pieces of this and that. I call them the leftovers.
What do we do with the leftovers anyway? Do you hunt through your drawers or bins looking for just that perfect something to add the finishing touch on a layout? What about using a handful of leftover products for its own project? This month’s kit club game had
us doing just that. Pick a left over item, showcase it, and produce something wonderful. You would think this would be an easy project for some of us. Let’s just say, many signed up
and many had high hopes of finishing this month’s game. ONLY
three scrappers were able to accomplish it. OK,
so it was the end of the school season and it was more lack of time than lack of ambition to do this project. I firmly sit with my hand raised
in the "did not finish" group. But, those that did came up with some really cute projects that fit the bill and showcase the use of their leftover products with great talent.

Design note:
Wow, it was tough trying to create something different using my scraps of ribbon! I went back and fourth with my ideas. And then one night, while watching TV, an idea hit me and I immediately went to work! I just love this. It’s even more beautiful in person!

Design
note:
I chose patterned paper. I thought about it for a few days and then ran across this little chalkboard in my 'to be altered' drawer
and decided to knock out two projects at a time by making a teacher gift. I grabbed the Office Supply line by Imagination Project and started snipping little pieces to make a mosaic-type border. It needed a bit of color, so I
added red cardstock. I hot-glued the clothespin so the teacher could add personalized notes or a photo. I dabbed a bit of hot glue on the back to attach the rick rack so she can hang it if she chooses. I love the way it all came together!

Design note:
Our challenge was to use something left over
that we had in our stash. My left over was chipboard. I used the negative
for my daughter's name and different size, fonts and colors for the journaling.
