Scrap-a-Ganza 2008 Part 1:
Meeting CD Muckosky

This years Scrap-a-Ganza was held at Noordwijkerhout instead of Egmond aan Zee which is close to my home.
The line up this year was so fantastic that I got totally carried away and booked workshops as early as 8:30.
I never realized until two days before the SAG that there was NO WAY I could get to Noordwijkerhout with public transportation and be there at 8:00
to sign in for classes and be in class at 8:30.
Got a massive panic attack... and panicked on my DT board. The Scrap-a-ganza is organized by
Scrapbookmate . Part of our design team was going and we were delighted to get to see each other in person.
Dear Fanny from France turned out to be a lifesaver! She booked from
Friday until Sunday but wasn’t able to be there until
Saturday noon. She offered me her room! So Friday afternoon DH and the kids drove me to Noordwijk and dropped me off.
Not long after wandering around I found
Emma (or rather, Emma found me)!
I got to reschedule my CD class that I was supposed to take on Saturday night and was able to take it
Friday night which was awesome because now I would be able to go home at a normal time
Saturday and I got to take the class together with Emma!
Despite going to the SAG for quite some time now this was my first evening class. It was fun to see the room quickly fill up with people, totally excited from what about to come.
CD Muckosky is a Canadian Scrapbooker. She won the “Scrapbooker of the Year” contest in 2006 and today she has her own column in Creating Keepsakes called: “CD’s playground”.
CD works with lots of pencils, paints and different textures to give her artwork a little extra.
I loved her artsy style for many years now, even before she won SOY, so you can imagine how excited I was to be able to take her class.

We made a cute little mini album using lots of fabric, cardboard, foam, paint and pencils. She taught us what we could do with pencils only, revealing parts of her awesome techniques.
It was a "year in review" album and although you can never, ever try techniques and then create a complete album in an hour and a half, I was delighted with the result of all my separate pages.
But what was even more fantastic was CD’s personality.
She was amazing. So soft and sweet and down to earth. I loved it how she made everybody feel super special: took tons of time for picture taking, sharing a personal word, writing in mini albums, on cards, tags, books, and not just an autograph, a personal story to everybody.
LOVED her for that... truly amazing... she just made everybody SO happy!
I didn’t have time to put together my little album so the class picture of CD holding it will have to do for now. – I promise you I will show it once it’s done! I do have something amazing to show you.
The next day I popped in CD’s class to basically pick up Emma for lunch.
Emma was waiting for her picture with CD and an autograph so I waited with her. When I saw the time CD was taking for everybody I was very very tempted to ask her to sign my cropper hopper.
I felt I couldn’t because she was so busy and I took up time of her already on Friday night, and basically I didn’t take a
Saturday class so I felt it wasn’t my turn anymore.
But standing there waiting I thought I would regret it forever if I don’t ask.
And so I asked her - and guess what she said?

I really was over the moon. We sat down for a while and talked while she put her beautiful art on my bag.

Meeting CD was more then a workshop. It was an amazing experience. I hope some of you will be lucky enough to take a CD class in the future.
If not you can find some great comfort by reading her
blog.

See you next month for part two of the Scrap-a-Ganza!
