Street Maps

Michelle McClung

It’s 2008 already! The start of a new year, and for me, usually a resolution to catch up on my scrapping. I have to say it’s one that I don’t seem to ever keep. The problem is that there are too many pictures and ideas but too little time to scrap! Old story, I know, but so true.

This brings me to my sketch. I have decided that at the end of each year, to finish out my scrapbook, I will create a review page with highlights from the past year. That way, even if I can’t scrap all of the pictures on separate layouts, I’ll still have some of my favorite pictures on this review page.

Design note: I wanted to create a simple sketch that would highlight the past year’s pictures. I left enough room for as many or as little photos it would take for you to tell your story.

Sketch by Michelle McClung.

Design note: I LOVED this sketch the minute I saw Michelle post it. I KNEW I had to try this. I cannot believe how well the layout actually turned out. I used Adobe PSE5 to reduce the size of all my pictures and then used a 20 picture layout to print off all of the pictures on one sheet of photo paper. Doing that made it extremely easy to prepare that many pictures for this page.

525,600 Minutes by Brianne Nevill. Supplies: Paper, Journaling Card: BasicGrey, SandyLion, Stickers: SandyLion, Chipboard: American Crafts, Pens: Zig.

Journaling: (from the song, Season's of Love, from the musical "Rent"): "525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear. 525,600 minutes, how do you measure, measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights... In 525,600 minutes - how do you measure a year in the life? Measure in Love."

Journaling card: "These are just a few of my favorite pictures from 2007. With a little under 60 days left, I could easily have hundreds more. May I present to you, The Nevill Family. And these are just a few of our minutes..."

Design note: : This is a hybrid layout. I fit approximately 43 pictures on this page - enough for me to look back at a glance and remember the year. This is going to be a tradition for me from now on, to create an end-of-the-year review for my scrapbook.
