Happy January and Happy New Year!
How
was your December? On vacation…laid back and relaxed? Or do
you fall into the “I was so busy I can barely remember it”
category? Think I fall somewhere in the middle. I enjoyed my
holiday, but am ready to get back to my day-to-day
routine.
One thing that definitely helped keep
me sane through the holidays was the Holiday HoHoHodown.
Thanks to Sgt. Spink, I had all my homemade cards done, sealed
and ready to mail out by the first of December…and I made
about half of my gift tags too. Felt good to have a few things
done ahead of time…AND she made it fun! Definitely think the
Hodown needs to become an annual ScrapStreet event.
Plus…absolutely LOVED getting those homemade cards from my
wonderfully talented Street friends. I know I speak for
everyone when I say that they were truly a highlight of the
holiday happy mail. Thanks to everyone who
participated.
Did you participate in our Secret
Santa swap? It was sooo much fun. I was absolutely blown away
by what I received and loved seeing what everyone else got
too. Scrapstreet sisters are just the BEST gift-givers! Thanks
to Elmira for making this event possible. Well…Spink helped a
bit too.
Even with all of the holiday
craziness, we still managed to play a round of bingo in
December and Heather was our winner…congratulations, Heather!
That makes two wins out of the last three months for her…wow!
Hmmm…how does she do it? Luck? Some sort of “system”? Psychic
abilities? Be sure to sign up for bingo…this might be YOUR
lucky month.
Exciting news from December…Jenn is
having a baby! Should have another ScrapStreet baby arriving
sometime in June. Ohhh, Je-ennnn…THINK PINK!
Have you seen the newly added Pet
Park? It’s uptown…just north of Life Lane. Be sure to stop by
for a visit or to share a story with us. Our street pets are
always ready to provide us with a giggle or two.
Did your mojo go outta town for the
holidays? Pretty sure mine did. Well don’t worry…SNS is sure
to lure it back. And if that doesn’t work, we also have our
weekend crop event scheduled for Jan. 18th-20th. We’re gonna
have a GREAT time visiting Barbados. Hope you all play! Bet
ol’ mojo will be hoppin’ the first plane back to town.
Time for Resident of the Month:
This month’s recipient has been with us about 9
months. She’s energetic and outgoing on the boards with her
posts, dares and challenges. She has an optimistic attitude
about her life and you can tell from her posts and her blog
that she absolutely adores her family. She’s a talented
scrapper and I’m sure I’m not the only one that has been
inspired by her work. Between her role as a military wife, her
career, being the mother of an active toddler, and still
finding time to spend on her beloved hobby, she is definitely
trying to live up to her Wonder Woman persona. So please join
me in showing some love for January’s ROTM…Brianne!

Time for Jakey's Corner:
Hi and Happy New Year! Not really sure what
that means, but I keep hearin’ everyone else say it so I
thought I would join in too.
I’ve sorta been outta the loop here lately
since I didn’t get to stay with my aunt woey much last
month. My mommy said aunt woey’s tummy was sore so she
couldn’t keep me. Just between you and me, I think
that’s sorta sad…not being able to keep me just ‘cause
she has a tummy ache. She’s usually not nearly that much

a BABY ‘bout stuff. She’s actually pretty
strong…you know…for a girl and all. Just a couple weeks ago I
saw her tear off the truck door handle with her bare hands!
While she was at home with her tummy ache, I had
to go to Jakey School. There were other kids to play with…and
lots of new toys. Sounds great, huh? Yep…I thought so too…’til
I got there. Jakey School just wasn’t all that it was cracked
up to be. I didn’t get to pick what foods I wanted for lunch
and NEVER got to go out for bye-bye burgers. I had to share
all the best toys with the other kids. I didn’t get to control
the tv and sometimes I had to watch movies that OTHER people
picked out for me. I mean…the people were nice enough I
guess…but they didn’t even take us to WAL-MART. Not even ONCE.
What kind of life is that? *shakes head in disbelief* I’m glad
Aunt Woey’s tummy ache is better now. We do fun stuff
together…like go to the pot store. Oooh…she even took me to
meet a giant M&M! It was a little shy…didn’t talk as much
as the M&M’s on the commercials do. But it was pretty
friendly…even let me hold his hand.
What did Santa bring you? I got lots of cool
stuff. But the bestest thing he brought me was my very own
gameboy! Guess my mommy asked him to bring it for me. Heard
her say she was tired of me and my brother taking turns with
his ‘cause it always seemed to be Jakey’s turn. *shrug* I
thought it was a pretty good system, but this works out even
BETTER!
I got another cool gift too…from my Aunt Spinky.
It’s a cool flashlight that shines POOKY stuff on the walls.
It was a BIG hit on Christmas day. I put on a pooky show for
my family. I could tell that everyone loved it too ‘cause
every time I turned off the lights, they all yelled “JAKEY!”
Ahhh…good times! Think I’m gonna go play with it right now.
Bye-Bye, scrapstreet!!
December addictions:
6. Digital picture frames—oh, wait a sec…that’s
only in AMBER’S family…lol.
5. Christmas pics—LOVE seeing all the family pics
that are popping up. If you haven’t posted any…it’s not too
late. We always enjoy seeing our friends in their natural
habitats…heehee.
4. Dora’s 'hood stories—a year-round addiction.
The latest? New neighbors, love life of a Frat Boy, and Dora:
the other woman. Pull up a seat…no telling what might happen
next in Dora’s hood and you don’t wanna miss anything!
3. Life Lane—pretty sure we all like to chat even
more than we like to scrap. Even in the busy month of
December, we managed to end up with 48 pages of posts.
2. Scrapstreet in general—you know it’s an
addiction when you have to resort to the buddy system to
ensure you actually get some work done between street visits.
*waves to Heather and Terry* Ummm…aren’t you both supposed to
be working right now?
And the current #1 addiction?? Yep…you guessed
it. WEBKINZ!! The cult that is sweeping the nation…or at least
Scrapstreet. It has already claimed 8 of us as
victims…errr…members. Despite support from other anti-Webkinz
non-conformists, I was weak and finally succumbed to the
ever-growing peer pressure just a few days ago.
Unfortunately…after seeing how cute my little Radar is in his
little “dude” hat and shades…and receiving gifts and messages
from other cult members…and playing the addictive arcade
games…I realize it’s too late for me. So let this be a warning
to the rest of you…be careful…RUN…save yourselves! Check out
all happy mail and be especially suspicious of anything plush
and cuddly. YOU COULD BE NEXT!!
Guess that’s about all for now. On a personal
note, I would just like to thank you all for the love and
support you showed me while I was going through my surgery and
recovery. This truly is a special group of people and I
consider myself extremely blessed to be a part of it. Thank
you for a friend-filled 2007. Hope 2008 treats you well.
‘Til next time…cya on the streets!!
