Welcome to Discovery Drive! Stop by, grab a parking spot and come in to meet our newest discovery, Vicki Flinchum! Vicki’s fun and sassy sense of style shines through on every page she does. It’s nice to see so much “stuff” on a page! In days when there is a lot of neat and clean and simple in scrapbooking, the stuff might have been forgotten… not for Vicky!
Vicki’s other talent also seems to lie in scrapping those portrait pictures. Sometimes those pictures prove a bit difficult to transfer into layouts; but not in Vicky’s case – she seems to have a knack to really bring those pictures to life. Congratulations, Vicki, enjoy the drive!

Take a walk through the aisles of your store
for inspiration.

Design notes:
My dear husband and I found this circa 1950s cowboy outfit in a local vintage clothing shop. It was the perfect size for our son, Troy, who was two. With the outfit, his cowboy hat and his horsie Robbez, he looked the part. The pensive look just seemed to add to the effect. I distressed the photo and mat edges and inked with Ranger Distress Ink (Faded Jeans).

Design notes:
I wrote a note to our son, Troy, using the
eyelets from ScrappinMojo as well as other
eyelets, brads, ink, glitter and ephemera.
The eyelets, brads and stickers act as
letters, words, punctuation and pictograms.
Then I created a layout using the note on it
to demonstrate the note's size and use!

About the designer
Hi! I'm Vicki Flinchum. I live in Round Rock, Texas with my wonderful husband of six years, Michael; our two kids, Samantha and Troy, ages 9 and 4; and our Miniature Pinscher, Rori. They are my favorite subjects!! I retired four and a half years ago from twenty years of civil service to become a stay at home mom. I must admit, it's the toughest job I've ever had, but also, the most rewarding! All my life I've been involved in arts and crafts - painting, drawing, decorating, making things. Paper arts have been included in my many projects but scrapbooking is something I only took up about two years ago. I'm a self-taught artist, with what many say is an eclectic style. I love all things old and distressed; my other hobbies include collecting old advertising and automotive memorabilia, and antiquing. I am a big fan of ephemera in my crafting; I like to use found objects like pebbles, pennies, ticket stubs, bottle caps and so on. |
