A Little Shimmer

 Janice Badger

A little shake, a little shine, a little shimmer.  What do these three items have in common?  They catch your eye and draw attention to them and everything near them.  We're not talking in-your-face bling, here; more a subtle glint that attracts you to a certain portion of  the page, sometimes without your even realizing it.

Journaling: “I look like a princess!” you said on your 3rd birthday.

Cinderella by Janneke Smit. Supplies: Paper:  BasicGrey, My Mind’s Eye, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Letter stickers: BasicGrey, Ink: Rubber Stampede, Marker: Sakura, Jewels: Westrim Crafts.

Design note: I reduced the saturation of the photos a little to make the colors match the patterned paper. I put an extra photo of her Cinderella dress on a tag (made from the same paper) and tucked the tag underneath the large photo. My daughter is wearing a red hairclip, which is distracting for this page, so I placed a blue butterfly on top of the photo to cover up the hairclip. I added the same kind of butterflies to the edge of the tag and on the strip at the bottom, to create a visual triangle. I used a knife to cut around the edge of the flower on the patterned paper and slide the photo and paper strip underneath.

Design note: When I had this picture developed I just knew it needed a special page.  I wanted to draw attention to the sun shining on my sons face.  I placed the title above the picture to make it appear as though it was rays of sunshine shinning down on him.  I tore a circle out of the floral patterned paper and added the bling to create a unique embellishment.  I then lightly sanded and added the sticker next to add to my "cluster" of embellishments, leaving negative space on most of the page. Then I used the square bling as my journaling block.

Shine by Juliann Marchant.  Supplies: Paper: Scribble Scrabble, We R Memory Keepers, Bling: Heidi Swapp for Advantus, Sticker: 7 Gypsies, American Crafts, Pen: American Crafts, Products provided by ScrapHype.

Journaling: I love to see you smile.  You are my sunshine.  XOXO Mommy

Design note: My bling is glitter... on the paper, on the embellishments, everywhere!!! A little more bling: making my photo glow using filters in PSE thanks to a little tutorial at Jessica Sprague's Photshop Fridays!

Morning by Leigh Bossinger.  Supplies: My Little Sweetheart {Girl} Digital Kit by Tangie Baxter Designs, Font: CK Becky.

Journaling: “Welcome every morning with a smile. Look on the new day as another special gift from your Creator, another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday. Be a self-starter. Let your first hour set the theme of success and positive action that is certain to echo through your entire day. Today will never happen again. Don't waste it with a false start or no start at all. You were not born to fail.” by Oq Mandino.
