Digital Discovery

Happy digital, everyone! Meet our newest digital discovery, Courtney Koenig! Courtney seems like your friendly gal (and mom!) next door, but she designs anything but. Courtney combines striking photography with bright but soothing colors and second-to-none page design. You certainly can tell the fun she’s discovered in her digital scrapbooking by looking at all the detail in her layouts. Textures, brushes, fonts, angles, patterns; they’re all in there and used just perfectly to enhance the mood of each of her layouts.
Courtney certainly has proved here that she’s one creative designer just by showing her pages; however, did you see her ultra-creative kids’ names, too? Love them! Love a girl who’s willing and daring to be a bit different! Congratulations, Courtney, you work is pure joy!

Design notes:
I lowered the opacity on the circles so that they would add and not
distract to the picture.
Journaling:
this is Beckem at 12 minutes old.

Beckem's Birthday
Design notes:
The background paper is brown but I
wanted to grunge it up. I used the paint
bucket and added white on top.

Design notes:
The three green papers form a visual
triangle so that there is movement and
interest to the layout.

Design notes:
I layered a patterned paper over the
pictures and then used a blending mode. I
then erased some of the patterned paper that
was directly over the faces.
Journaling:
There is something special going on. Brinley adores Camden. She would do anything for him and he loves her for that.

About the designer
My name is Courtney Koenig. I have been married to an amazing guy for 11 years. We have 4 children, Ashlyn (8), Brinley (6), Camden (4), and Beckem (16 months). For the past five years we have lived in Texas.
I started paper scrapbooking when Ashlyn was born. It was a chance to get together with a friend who also just had a baby and capture our daughters’ young lives. I still enjoy paper scrapbooking, but last year I got Photoshop and discovered all the new, exciting, and fun things I could do with it. I now love the flexibility digital scrapbooking gives me. I can be so much more creative as it allows me to change the scale, color, and features of any paper or embellishment! I also love that there is not a mess to clean up afterward (with 4 kids I have enough messes to clean.) It is so nice to just sit with my kids anywhere in the house and scrap while they play.
