Bushels of Fun

Christa Parker

When I was asked to do the apple feature I thought, hmmm, what can I talk about? After looking around the internet, I found some fun facts about apples. I read about things I never knew. Like the apple is part of the Rose family, freckles on Golden Delicious indicate ripeness and that Washington State is one of the top apple-producing states. I also read that it takes two pounds of apples to make one 9-inch pie, and that apple trees take four or five years to produce their first fruit. There are 2500 varieties of apples that are grown in the United States and 7500 varieties throughout the world. Now that’s a lot of apples!!

Each day, apples are enjoyed by people in every country, and are the world’s most popular fruit. So what are you waiting for? Go eat an apple and while you’re at it, check out these kids enjoying theirs.

Design note: Use your journaling! I happened to have missed the actual "moment", if just by seconds, with the camera, but I could still do it justice by completing the story with journaling.

Bobbed by Lindsey Krauss. Supplies: Paper, Button: Basic Grey, Cardstock, Borders: Bazzill Basics Paper, Felt: Fancy Pants, Flower, Leaf: Prima, Rub-ons: ScrapWorks, Sketch: PageMaps, Font: Jellyka - Estrya's Handwriting.

Journaling:  Matthew "lost" the 1st time he tried to bob for an apple and he was very, very upset. However, he found the {COURAGE} to try again, and not only did he get an apple, he got it first and "won"! He was so proud and we were so proud of him for trying again! 7-5-2008

Design note:

This was just a  playful layout using the new Scribble Scrabble products. The title came to me as I saw the photo    of my daughter.  I tried to use as little  as possible on this layout to give it  more impact, just a lot of cutting, stamping and stitching.

The Apple by Stephanie Garbett. Supplies: Paper: Scribble Scrabble, Embellishments: Papermania.

Design note: This layout has a hybrid component.  I enlarged an apple-shaped journaling spot from the digital kit, printed it out and used this as a template to cut the apple from the patterned paper.

Apple by Janneke Smit. Supplies: Papers, Die cut:  October Afternoon, Cardstock: Canson, Apple shape: School Rules digital kit by Dora's Designs and Handmaid Designs for ScrapStreet.com, Chipboard letters: Maya Road, Stickers: Sandylion, Ribbon: KI Memories Love Elsie, Date stamp: Staples, Ink: Rubber Stampede, Marker: Color Workshop, Pen: ZIG, Other: staples.

Journaling: Larissa loves the sweet apples Monica brings her!
