Unique Boutique

Terry McAuliffe

Winter Wonderland

What else would possibly be in the Unique Boutique for the month of December but pieces of the North Pole? The striking contrast between the brilliant white snow and the fun whimsy of Santa Clause red acts as fun inspiration for some different pieces of artwork this month. Everything from altered containers, Christmas ornaments, cards and layouts.  We started with this:

First up is Denean’s adorable Christmas ornament. Denean picked up the red and gold from the Welcome sign in the inspiration piece. Then we’ve got an all-purpose Christmas canister from Di Hickman, followed by a couple of cute cards from Lynda Lindsey.

Design note:

I did something a bit different this month. The bottom center picture jumped out at me - I love the bold red and white with the brown... and since I am in the middle of Christmas gift making, I made this ornament based off those colors.

Ornament by Denean Melcher.  Supplies: Paper: KI Memories, Letter Stickers:American Crafts.

Design note:

I was driven by the colors of the inspiration piece, then thought what does the North Pole have? Snow! I love using snowflake papers and embellishments for holiday projects. I had saved some cardboard food containers to alter for use in wrapping presents this year. These work great for cookies, other edible gifts, or simply use them as your stockings!

Gift Canister by Di Hickman.  Supplies: Paper, Ribbon, Stamps, Transparency,  Button: Boxer Scrapbooks, Ink: Close to My Heart, Bead: One Heart … One Mind,  Circle Punch: EK Success, Other:  oatmeal tube.

Penguin Cards by Lynda Lindley.  Supplies: Paper: Die Cuts With a View, Stamps: Just Rite Stamps, Unity Stamp Company, Embossing Template: Cuttlebug, Color Pencils: Prism, Other: flocking.

Fun Flock Embossed Snowflake card by Lynda Lindley.  Supplies: Paper: Bazzill Basic Paper,  Embossing Template: Cuttlebug, Punch: EK Success, Other: vellum snowflake.
