How do you generate ideas for your great sketches?

  • Each week the inspiration seems to come from a different source. The sketches are sometimes determined by a particular product, event or occasion.  The formula changes constantly but what does stay consistent is that both of us create our own cards with our sketches so we have fun with them too.

How is your challenge blog unique?

  • For us it is all about our fellow participants that create cards for our gallery. Everything we do we do for our community, from the Card of the Week, Fab 5! to our blog link in the sidebar. We “toot” with someone when they get published and we make sure that everyone that participates gets front row seats. We want our community to be the star of our show!

What can we expect from your blog in the future?

  • Great things seem to be happening all the time so who knows what the future holds… maybe a 2S4Y book on news stand shelves near you!

What being a part of this team means to you:  I am thrilled to be part of the design team for 2 Sketches 4 You!  2S4Y is such a wonderful place.  I am continually inspired by the awesome sketches, the amazing talent and by the supportive community of card makers!

Shine by Katie Anderson.  Supplies:  Paper, Ribbon:  American Crafts, Pins, Chipboard:  Fancy Pants, Rub-Ons: Daisy Bucket Designs.

Design Notes:  When I saw Laura's sketch, the half circle element made me think of the sunshine.  So that is what I based my card on.  I love to see all of the different interpretations of sketches....so fun to see what other people come up with!!

What being a part of this team means to you:  Being a part of the 2 Sketches 4 You team is a wonderful experience. I am meeting and getting to know people who are so talented and so friendly, both on the team and those who submit to the gallery. I think being a part of this team has opened up my world just a little more and I benefit from new friendships and people inspiring me.

Smile Card by Kristen Swain. Supplies:  Paper:  Bo Bunny, SEI, Stamps: Inkadinkado, Cornish Heritage Farms, Ink:  Tsukineko, Flower:  Bo Bunny, Button, Hemp:  Darice, Lace:  Offray, Other:  cardboard.

Design note:  Stamp onto product packaging using Staz-On ink and cut out the images.  This gives you a clear background and a similar effect as more expensive products.

What being a part of this team means to you:  I am delighted to be part of the 2 Sketches 4 You Winter DT. The sketches by Kazan and Laura are a great source of inspiration, and I enjoy working with their sketches.  It is such an opportunity!!

Get Well Soon Card by Hanneke van Dalen.  Supplies:  Cardstock:  Bazzill Basics Paper, Paper:  Scenic Route, Punches:  Martha Stewart, Fiskars, Pearls:   Kaiser Scrapbook, Ribbon:  Maya Road, Rub-On:  Melissa Frances, Ink:  Tsukineko.

Design note: The size of this card is 4.5x4.5 inch. I punched the border of the card, cut the papers, cut 2 circles, and punched out the butterfly.  I distressed the edges of the papers before adhering them.  I adhered the papers on the cardstock, adhered one circle on the paper too, made a bow and added this between papers.  I stuck the pearls on the butterfly and adhered it to the other circle.  Finally, I glued the circle with the butterfly onto the card.

I can say that I would definitely rush out to buy that book.  Looking for inspiration and motivation, I recently used several of the 2S4U sketches.  A funny thing happened.  I really enjoyed the process and, as an extra perk, my finished cards can be seen in the Card Corner section of this magazine.  See, the 2 Sketches 4 You blog is geared toward helping all scrapbookers, even the card-challenged.  So throw on your party dress, grab a cocktail and head on over to the 2 Sketches 4 You blog.  You will enjoy the party.
