Crossroads Cafe

Brianne Nevill

I remember back to Christmases past and how we would always have huge “cooking decorating” parties at my best friend’s family’s home, and then get to take a big box home with us to eat.  The tradition still continues to this day with my family.  We do not have a huge gathering of people yet, but I wanted my son to always remember the beginning of “Cookie-ganza!” and how fun it was to make lots of different types of goodies and give them away to our family and friends.  The same holds true for handmade hybrid gifts for almost everyone on my Christmas list, near or far away.  Yes, it probably would be easier to buy them all something small, but the excitement on their faces or their voice over the phone telling me how much they love my gift gives me a huge lift and makes my holiday season perfect.

The following are some great ideas for those special people on your Christmas list.    I hope your holiday season is absolutely perfect in every way and I look forward to the scrappy year of 2009 with all of you!  Merry Christmas!

Design note: When working with acrylic, I always sketch the design and develop a good idea of the finished product.  This helps me determine what steps to take first, and avoid, "I wish I would haves" later in the project.

2008 Santa's Village - Santa's Workshop by Camille McClelland.  Supplies: Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Pen: Zig Millenium, Glitter: Ranger, Ink: Clearsnap, Acrylic Template: Camille McClelland.

Additional Note:  Camille’s designs are for sale!  She actually designs and cuts these adorable projects out of acrylic and then sells the ENTIRE kit to make your very own mini!  Make sure to check her out on her blog at http://shesonehotmama.blogspot.com/.

Swinford Home card by Brianne Nevill.  Supplies: Paper: Sweetwater, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Ribbon: Offray, Fonts: Christmas Fun Doodlebats (Scrapnfonts).

Journaling: (inside) “WHOA! We’re still here after all these years!  Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”

Design note: I created this card for a coworker at my day job.  The main photo of the home her mother grew up in was taken recently.  I merged two older photos of her mother into the main photo to give it a nostalgic feeling.  To add that Christmas oomph, I added Christmas themed doodlebats and filled them with color.

Editor's note:

I LOVE the idea of being able to create these for all my neighbors!  Tins can get so expensive and then its time consuming to decorate each one by hand.  How practical to create one image and print it off for all of your holiday baking/gift giving needs!

Christmas Treat Box by Kristene Boston.  Supplies: Digital Paper: Classic Christmas Collection (FreeDigitalScrapbooking), Digital Letters: Metallic Gel Alphabet (FreeDigitalScrapbooking) Clipart: PSE 5.0, Box: Oriental Trading Company, Other: tag, wrapping ribbon.
