Discovery Drive

  Lindsey Krauss

Exciting. Bold. Colorful. Subtle. Layered. Detailed. Appropriate.

Appropriate? Yes! Welcome to Discovery Drive, you and the lovely, talented Kimberlee Croucher! Appropriate not only describes Kimberlee’s stay here on Discovery Drive, but it also describes her style and color choice on each and every layout she does. Her subjects are embossed in bright and bold layouts, details both subtle and jumping off the page. Try one of her many techniques – she excels at layering and angles. Take inspiration in her dry embossing on aluminum (!) or detailing from edge to edge.

Congratulations, Kimberlee! Your enthusiasum is as apparent on your pages as it is in working with you. Enjoy your rest on Discovery Drive – you more than earned it in many of your scrapping abilities. Did I mention color?

Editor’s Note: Try comparing subject to technique. Here the layout, paper and embellishments hug the photo as tightly as the subject squeezes through!

Design notes: I edged all of the scalloping first with some white acrylic paint and then with ink to give it a distressed look to match the page.

Beautiful You by Kimberlee Croucher. Supplies: Paper: BasicGrey, Cardstock: Die Cuts With a View, Stickers: EK Success, Stamp, Phrase: K and Company, Chipboard: Fancy Pants, Brads: 7 Gypsies, Overlay: Making Memories, Rub-ons: Imaginisce.

Journaling: Beautiful You

Remarkable by Kimberlee Croucher. Supplies: Paper: My Mind’s Eye, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics, Stampin’ Up!, Stamps, Chipboard: Fancy Pants, Fibers: BasicGrey, Berat, Brads: Making Memories, Flowers: Junkitz, Prima, Other: aluminum tag, aluminum.

Journaling: Do not live down to expectations. Go out and do something remarkable. Emily at Deer Lake 7, 2007

Design notes: The background was made using a craft-quality aluminum that I embossed and then distressed with ink. I also embossed my handmade photo corner frame in the same manner.

Power Of 3 by Kimberlee Croucher. Supplies: Paper: Rusty Pickle, Stampin’ Up!, Cardstock: Creative Imaginations, Numbers: American Crafts, Chipboard: Bisous, Colorbok, Other: ribbon, Cricut.

Journaling: Power of 3

Design note: I ran 2-inch grosgrain ribbon through my Xyron and fastened it to a piece of cardstock, then fed that through my printer so that my picture was printed on to the ribbon. My number three was made by printing off the number and word three in various fonts on the computer and then cut out the three with the Cricut.

Design note: I cut out the heart for the background and made my own scalloped paper.

Love by Kimberlee Croucher. Supplies: Paper: Tinkering Ink, K&Company, KI Memories, Rub-ons, Chipboard: Fancy Pants, Creative Imaginations, Transparency: Jenni Bolin, Felt: Nicole, Other: stamp, ribbon.

Journaling: Love Me, Love Me Not. 2007

About the designer

Hi! My name is Kimberlee Croucher and I am a scrapbook addict! I have been casually scrapping for over ten years, but just started getting seriously hooked on this wonderful obsession over a year ago. I love to have fun with my layouts and try new techniques on my pages. I keep myself busy with my two kiddos, my wonderful husband for 10+ years and also with my DT position at Scrap 'N Art. I am so honored to be featured here in ScrapStreet magazine!
