Over the Rainbow

 Mireille Divjak

Colors are so important in our lives. Colors affect our mood, colors can make us happy or sad, excited or calm. The effect colors have is truly amazing. Colors are also very important in scrapbooking. They have an large effect on the total “feel” of the project. Often we are led by the picture and determine what kind of paper goes great with it. The color of the products play a big role, not only because they go well with the colors in the picture but also because they emphasize the effect we want.

These designers were challenged to design monochromatic with a specific color. The effect is truly amazing. Yellow is such a happy color that goes great together with the happy feeling Christa gets from her quilt. Orange and red are naturals when it comes to warm and happy feelings which go great with these love-themed layouts .

Design note: Yellow is my favorite color, so I thought it wasn't going to be hard to do a layout  in yellow. Boy was I wrong... but once I got going on it, I had fun going through all my scrapbooking supplies to find yellow embellishments to add.

My Quilt by Christa Parker. Supplies: Paper: Me and My Big Ideas, Cardstock: Bazzill, Letters: Cricut George & basic shapes, Brads: Queen & Company, Ric Rac: Wrights, Eyelet: American Crafts, Other: Button.

Journaling: My quilt... 32 years ago my mom made all us kids a quilt for Christmas. She used bed sheets and our old clothes. I take my quilt every where I go. 2 years ago my mom talked me into letting her take it to repair the many holes. It took a month for her to do this. I called every night asking about it. When she was finally done, she drove it to WV to give it to me. I'll cherish this quilt forever!!

Design note: I decided to challenge myself with this layout. I absolutely hate the color orange... so I decided to push myself and use it. And guess what. I love how it turned out! Funny how that works out!

Love by Nicole Martel. Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill, Stamps: Autumn Leaves, Flowers: Prima, Heidi Swapp, Buttons: My Mind's Eye, Autumn Leaves, Pen: Signo, Other: Thread.

Design note: It was challenging to create an all red layout, since once I got started I realized that I did not have nearly as much red patterned paper as I thought I owned. I thought it would be fun to add some ribbon to the guy layout to tie in the garter that the best man had just caught.

One Down Who’s Next by Amber Bell. Supplies: Paper: Miss Elizabeth’s, EK Success, Die Cuts With a View, Cardstock: Bazzill, Rub-On Alpha Letters: Me and My Big Ideas, Flowers: Prima, Ribbon: Offray.
