Baby Love

 Lindsey Krauss

If any of you follow my articles, you know I like clean, categorized pages in my articles, usually written in some sort of file-like format, right? Well, this month, babies came my way and there was just no formatting this article. I got to pick just nine of the best layouts submitted – which was no easy task! – and run with it! No order, no format, no organization.

However, in the process of planning, I thought that it’s quite funny that I couldn’t organize these baby layouts. I think we all know, as mothers and fathers, that any previous sense of organization goes right out the window as soon as baby planning begins!

On that note, one of my favorite times to scrap was prenatal. Something about those magical ultrasound pictures, I guess, that put a little extra joy on the page – like Bethany’s! Pets are another popular topic; I actually expected tons of animal baby submissions on this one – take a look at Alidalis’ baby and pet combo! I don’t know about you, but I can’t get enough of heritage scrapbooking, so I was pleased as plum punch to show Gail’s page – with pictures from 1918!

Design note: I used a ghost arrow & bling circle to show where the body parts were in the photos because a lot of people in my family have such a hard time finding the little body parts in sonograms. I cut a wavy edge on the paper & edged it with lots of layers of flowers, buttons, brads & gems to give it a different look & more texture.

Ultrasound @ 19 weeks by Bethany Stouvenel. Supplies: Paper: Fancy Pants, Ghost elements, bling: Heidi Swapp, Brads: Making Memories, Sticker letters: American Crafts, Flowers: Prima, Doodlebug, Bazzill, Buttons: My Mind's Eye.

Journaling: Dad & I were so excited to finally get a good look at you and have all our questions answered! The technician showed us your 2 arms and 2 legs. Your little fingers, and tiny toes. We got this great picture of your little foot, looks just like an imprint in the sand! You kept kicking and moving all over the place. She had a hard time checking your heartbeat because you wouldn't be still. Finally at the end of the sonogram I asked her, "So is it a girl? or a boy?" and she said she couldn't tell! Dad and I were so disappointed! Hopefully we will find out ay my next doctors appointment. It was so amazing and beautiful to see you! We cannot wait to meet you little one.

Design note: See your die cuts with an open mind. Here I used a cloud die as a sentiment bubble. Also, when using a lot of neutral colors in your layout, try adding a punch of color like I did here with the blue flower, tabs and buttons.

What the *heck* is that? by Alidalis Acevedo. Supplies: Paper, Bling, Cardstock: January www.2galsscrappin.com kit, Cardstock tabs: Heidi Swapp, Buttons: SEI, Stamps: Autumn Leaves, Pin: Making Memories, Flowers: craft supply, Snap: We R Memory Keepers, Die cut: Sizzix.

Journaling: "Kramer and Bianca's first encounter together 3-14-07"

Editor’s Note: One of the current trends is really going back to basics – reducing clutter and focusing on the photograph. This classic style works especially well with wonderful heritage photos.

Design note: I maximized the white space and kept embellishments to a minimum to focus on these wonderful heritage photos.
