I love all of the
cool journal spots on the market today.
Actually, I have quite a collection going
now since I seem to pick up a few more every
time I am in the scrapbook store. But
I am not a big enough fan of my handwriting
to use them often. I am trying to
embrace the imperfection of my script, but
in the meantime I have found that hybrid
journaling spots are the perfect solution
for me.
There are tons of
adorable digital journaling spots to choose
from. Simply open, type in your text,
and print. Trim, adhere, and there you
have it--a journaling spot look with
perfectly typed words.
I have created a
freebie to help get you started.
Download it in our
store from the freebies section and you
are ready to rock. I left this batch
simple--and transparent--so you can print
them out on any paper to match your layout.
Add them to cards, layouts, anything and
everything! Happy Scrapping!

Design
note:
I used the journaling spot
twice: once on the bottom left. But I
wanted another bracket on the bottom right,
to the right of the title. I duplicated the
journaling spot, then used the image>rotate
function in Photoshop Elements to flip the
spot horizontally. I used a large round
eraser to remove the journaling lines on the
flipped layer. I hand-cut the upper
border with the Exacto knife.

Swing by
Janice Badger. Supplies: Paper:
BasicGrey, Journaling spot: Journal Freebies
by Dora Phillips at scrapstreet.com (recolored),
Alphabet brush: Doodle Block Alphabet by
Katie Pertiet (designer digitals), Ink:
Clearsnap, Font: Susie’s Hand, Other: Exacto
knife.
Journaling: It was so
much fun watching Ryan and the boys swinging
together at the park. Ryan played in this
park when he was a little boy, and while the
equipment has been updated, the fun remains
the same.

Design
note:
For an extra layer of fun,
I printed one of the journaling spots
without words onto the blue paper.
Journaling: I love watching
the two of you as you cuddle together.
How cute are you in those hats with your
matching blue eyes?

note: I never use my own handwriting for journaling, so adding a spot and
printing it out makes it so much nicer on my layouts.
Journaling:
Maggie you light up every day for me when i get to see you play and have fun.
