Michelle McClung

The last month of summer brings me back to being a kid again.   Needing to make sure to squeeze every last moment of fun in and take full advantage of the warm weather before school started once again.  When I was a kid, I lived in Brooklyn, New York, and I have some of the best childhood memories from there.  My family and I lived on a block full of families with other kids around my age.  The days were usually spent at the local pool swimming, crafting, or playing games.  In the evenings, the adults would gather on someone’s porch for a gin and tonic while watching all of us kids play.  I remember dreading September and wanting August to last forever!  Those were the days!

Design note:

This sketch was made for the Metropolis crop that we had last month.  I wanted to mimic Superman’s flight by having the design on a diagonal, show some speed by having the pictures on the ends partially cut off and add journaling strips that moves your eyes along faster on the page.

 Superman Sketch by Michelle McClung.

Editor’s note:  I love how Michelle simplified this sketch and made it for one single (beautiful) picture.  The colors of the kit she has chosen were just perfect for the colors in her photo.

Grandmas Little Poser by Michelle Boeckermann. Digital Supplies: Karma Chameleon kit by VFT Designs & Creative Confusion @ live out loud scraps.

Journaling: There is beauty in Simple Moments.

Castaway Cay by Kristene Boston.  Supplies: Papers: Bazzil,3 Peas, Other: Letters.

Journaling: My favorite place. I could have spent 2 days there!

Design note: Even though these pictures are from the same place they are unrelated and the sketch helped me to make them work together!

Design note:

Since I did not like the way the title looked with the red/green letters overlapping onto the red/green paper and after testing other placement of the letters, I decided to create an additional white space with the circles inked with olive. I felt the circles were a great choice since they could represent ornaments and gave the title area added dimension.

Handmade Gifts by Kim Galea.  Supplies:  Papers: Paper Company, KI Memories, Chipboard Letters: Wal-Mart,  Circle Words: Leaving Prints,  Ribbon: Making Memories, Ribbon Slide,  Eyelets: Making Memories, Scalloped Scissors: Provo Craft, Pens: Marvy Uchida, ZIG, Ink Pad: Close To My Heart, Button: Favorite Findings, Circle Punch:  EK Success.

Journaling: The Best Gifts are always "Handmade Gifts"  This year, we decided to make "hand-made" gifts for dad. You and Lara were so excited and loved picking the "theme" and the saying for your gift to dad.  Christmas '07 (DS's painting says: "I miss you when you're away from the pad" and his handprints are frogs representing himself and DH)
