Think accessory when you pop on that little
black dress. Black and white can be such a
fashion statement in our lives, but when you pop
that one color with it, it explodes and makes a
true statement. This is true of our scrap pages
as well as in the fashion industry.
Going shopping is one of my favorite things to
do. I love to browse and look and I love
to buy… yes, I guess you could say that I have a
few addictions that are not just scrapbooking
related. However, I really prefer to not go
shopping with my husband. Making decisions
between two pairs of black shoes can take hours,
and it can be torture!
Recently, I made such a shopping trip with my
dear husband and then after spending a couple of
hours looking at the same shoes, he made a
purchase only to get them home and have to
return them. So you guessed it, we got to go
shopping again.
While I won’t bore you with several “shopping
stores” it dawned on me…we all have so many
decisions in life. Sometimes don’t you
just wish that things were cut and dried, or
black and white? Wouldn’t it sometimes make
things in life much simpler? Let's find
out: we challenged our readers to make black and
white pages with a pop of color this month.

Design note:
To
create a design with buttons on your layout,
you can either place the buttons on your
layout as you like them, then adhere them
one by one so you can keep the correct
shape, or draw the shape lightly with a
pencil on your layout then place the buttons
over your pencil marks and adhere.

Letters: Heidi Swapp, Buttons: Craft Supply,

Design
note:
To
create this layout of my daughter using
PSE6, I made a copy of the original colored
picture and changed it to black and white.
Then I put the black and white photo on top
of the colored photo, lowered the opacity
and erased the candle's fire and surrounding
glow allowing the colored photo to show
through. This is a very simple technique
with great dramatic effects.

Moments by Shae. Digital Supplies:
Digital Kit: “Doodle me a Kit" by
Melothria @ Digital-Arts Café.
Journaling: Simple
Moments are Extraordinary.

Design note:
I
used watercolor paint to color the
background paper, as well as the edges. I
cut a crown in a white cardstock paper and
painted it with the same blue watercolor
paint. I also stitched the border of the
photography and added some blue
embellishments to the layout.
