Surfing the internet I made this wonderful discovery. I found not one, not two, but three great blogs, that all belong to Shawna.
The first blog is filled with lovely digital freebies all ready to download. On the other two blogs you can find user friendly tutorials on Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro.
Because I thought it was so lovely that someone would put all these things on the internet for free, I asked Shawna the following questions to find out a little more about her and Scrap Stuff.
Tell me a
little bit about yourself:
I'm 37, single, live in Ontario Canada and I'm the youngest of 7 kids. I'm
very girly and love pinks, blues, and greens, so my designs tend to go in
that direction. I refuse to eat turnips, anything that has onions or green
peppers in it, and I hate feet.
When did you start scrapbooking and what had inspired you?
I had always wanted to learn to do graphics and had tried over the years on
and off to accomplish anything in Photoshop and failed miserably. It's a
very difficult program to just jump right into if you have no clue what you
are doing. Then one day I decided to give it one more shot. I saw a very
cute little flower picture on google, and it didn't look like it would be
too hard to do. So, I went and found the website
http://suzshook.topcities.com/tutorials/bezierflowers/8index.htm , downloaded
a trial of PSP8 and made something that kind of looked like a squashed
version of Suz's beizer flower. But, I kept at it, finding other tutorials
to try out and I picked it up very quickly. I had never even heard of Paint
Shop Pro before. It was certainly a lot easier to learn on than PS was.
That was in February of last year, so I've been using PSP for about 16
months now.
When did you start your first scrapbook blog and what was it about?
I set up my original freebie blog on March 14, 2007 and about a month later,
I put up my first item. A few weeks later, I decided I'd like to help out
other people who were new to using PSP, and started a second blog with PSP
tutorials. Then in April of this year, I thought I'd give Photoshop another
try. Since I'm now so familiar with PSP, Photoshop was so much easier this
time around, that I started a Photoshop tutorial blog. I've just recently
acquired Poser and am going to give that a shot sometime in the future.
Where do you find the inspiration for your scrapbook freebies?
Everywhere... a design on a frilly sock, something I've seen in a store
like a cute hair barrette, and just recently, I saw a picture of 4 balloons
on google. The colors reminded me of the 50's and 60's so I'm in the
process of doing a kit with that theme.
How do you decide on the topics of your tutorials?
Some of my tutorials come from requests from others, but mainly, when I am
creating a kit, I usually try and do a couple of tutorials on things that are in
the kits themselves, and I try to vary the tutorials each time so that people can
learn to create something they may have seen around, but never knew where to
start to try and create it themselves.
I felt right at home at Scrap Stuff.
So, if you like to get some cute scrap kits, embellishments or learn some great tips and tricks in PS and PSP I can totally recommend these blogs to you.
