Bright and early on
Friday, July 18th, my super staff of
talented writers and I raced into the Donald
E. Stephens Convention Center for the Craft
and Hobby Association show, eager to ogle the
latest and greatest in scrapbooking goodies.
We were not disappointed! From the
moment we entered, we found a plethora of
beautiful papers, yummy embellishments, and
a few scrapping celebrities to round out our
day. This year my team included 5
girls experiencing CHA for the first time
and watching their reactions was almost as
much fun as admiring all the pretties.
We had a pair with glazed eyes. A pair
holding on to each other and jumping up and
down. And one practical gal ready to
make sure that we made the most of our
ordering moments. Watching them
have fun was certainly a blast for me!
We wanted to show
off some of our favorite items! Take a
peek at what tops each gal's must have list.

Janice's Pick:
I've seen the big binding machine that's available for purchase in most
stores now. But it's a lot more machine than I really want - or need - to
have around. So imagine my delight when, while wandering around the booths
at CHA, I saw Zutter's Bind-It-All! I got to "test drive" it at one of the
booths, and in less than 5 minutes assembled and bound a mini Halloween
album. It's small - fits in the palm of your hand. It both punches the
holes and binds a book together. It can do as few as three rings for a mini
album, or a 12-inch long album. I can also see just using the punch
function and then threading ribbon through for a pretty decorative edge. I
also liked that the "combs" that form the ring binder part come in a variety
of widths (3.8 to 1 1/4 inches), so you can make a fairly thick album. As a
final bonus, my kids are just starting school, and I can see using this for
many school reports and projects in the years to come.

Stacey's Pick:
Picking just one item from CHA is almost impossible! But, one company continues to
stand out to me time after time, product after product. Yet again, Basic Grey has
come up with wonderful, eclectic and very usable paper lines. I am blown away by
the colors and patterns! The best part is that somebody really smart imagined the
perfect sidekick to all those papers and rub-ons. What are they? Mini chipboard
letters that come in three colors that have clever names like Dark Chocolate Chip.
The letters range from .75 inch to 1.25 inches in size! Something about their size
and shape just makes me want every single one! These babies are small enough to
spell out longer titles, yet commanding enough to draw attention. Being a fan of
adding dimension to my crafts, I love that they can be used on smaller projects such
as mini albums and cards. There are three different fonts to choose from, allowing
endless possibilities for incorporating words onto your layouts. I am a girl who
adores picking the right title, and now I have a great option to help me showcase it
as well.

Dora's Pick:
I fell
madly in love with
all three of the new lines by Fancy Pants
Designs, but the one I am stalking the
delivery truck for is The Daily Grind.
I can see creating back to school layouts,
fall layouts, spring and summer layouts--I
may even whip out a holiday item or two.
For me it is all about the super versatility
(ok, and the fact that it is gorgeous) of
this line. And while I am screaming
praises for Fancy Pants at the top of my
lungs, have you used a Glitter Cut lately?
If not, you need to get your hands on a
stack of them in a hurry!
