I love summer, especially spending time in
faraway places. That was in my mind when I
discovered I had August’s kit to design for
ScrapStreet. Reminiscent of the rich, deep
colors from around the Agean Seas. Think of
submerged tiled floors, treasure chests, the
blues, browns and greens of the sea, and the
yellows of the sun beating down on terracotta-tiled roofs. Mmm, I can almost feel the
breeze! Suitable for many styles of layouts as
we shall see from our team.

Design note: Sometimes you have the picture, but part of it is
not the right color. In this case I
changed the color of the dress to better
suit the colors of the papers. The "Fish"
title is overlaid with other papers from the
kit and then outlined.

Design
note:
I wanted the focus of this layout to be solely about the
boys. They lived next door to one another
for four years until both of us moved. When
we got together a year later, they picked up
right where they left off. To highlight the
photo I used the colorful sequin frame on
the dark earthy background. |

Design note:
I
really tried to make this layout look as
though it had a lot of depth to it, as if it
really were nailed to the wood (well,
paper)! By using some mats I made from the
papers and altering the shadows I think it
worked quite well, almost paper-like!
