Photo Editing

Welcome dearies to Aunt Digi’s place.  Having taken lots of photos on my little holiday by the sea, I got to thinking about photo editing.  With money being tight these days it is always nice to get something for free!  Here is a nice little free photo editing program called Photo Plus 6.0 from those nice people at Serif. Check it out here .  When I was playing with it, you could upgrade to Photo Plus 8.0 for only $9.99.  That has a lot more bells and whistles on it and could be worth the money.

It was easy to download and install and I set to playing.  What a fun little bit of software and very like a simple version of Photoshop Elements, without the bells and whistles.

It has all sorts of tools like a paintbrush, airbrush, clone, eraser and smudge with different settings for each, as well as color palette to choose custom colors.  You can import pictures direct from your camera or open up a variety of formats such as jpg and png on your PC.  There are editing menus at the top and tools to the side and your windows on the other side for color, tool properties and layers (Figure 1). I felt quite at home.

There is a deform tool for resizing, rotating and skewing, shapes to create like the flowers below (Figure 2).

You can edit your photos for red eye, brightness, contrast, hue and so on, and you can use the filters supplied and even add in your special filters in the preference menu (Figure 3).   You can also add text to your creations and use drop shadows and bevels for each layer.

You can do animations and set your pictures to point to other web pages complete with HTML provided.  I didn’t have time to play with these dearies, but I was pleased with the little card topper I got done (Figure 4)!

So dearies, a great little bit of software for free to play about with for photos or even digi scrapping and I bet the next version is even better!  Have fun playing with your pixels.... ‘til next time!
