July: a month that means so many things to so many people. Summer, vacation, family, freedom, picnics, sun, sand and surf. Here at ScrapStreet, it was a whirlwind month of a variety of activities.
Many of our members spent time traveling to places near and far, visiting family and friends.
The number one activity on the July list of events was the 2008 Craft and Hobby Association trade show in Chicago. Seven
Street sisters left their hometowns and journeyed to the “Windy City.” Planes, trains and automobiles all took their turn as a form of transportation. Gracious ScrapStreet owner, Dora Phillips, managed to facilitate the arrivals, pickups and gatherings of the seven adventurers, ultimately converging on her own home, affectionately known as “Hotel Dora”
for the weekend. Two days were spent at the show: shopping, giggling, walking, staring, and just enjoying being together with some precious new friends.
ScrapStreet’s very own Saturday Night Scraps consisted of star spangled celebrations, a slumber party and an itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny-yellow-polka-dot bikini themes. The monthly Crop Weekend Celebration took us to the World Bodypainting Festival in Austria. A wealth of colors presented us with some awesome challenges where things were not always as they seemed.
In case you haven’t been to the ScrapStreet forum’s lately, here are just a few tidbits you missed in the Life Lane!
*Beware the post office, job descriptions are not always accurate, it seems a 6-hour work day really means a 10-hour work day!
*Give the girls a few lemondrop drinks and suddenly the Energizer Bunny has a bunch of brand new friends!
*Visit “Hotel Dora” and you are greeted with embroidered towel sets and altered chocolate mint tins.
*Do not mix pain killers, walking on your feet for six hours, eating ice cream and being whacked by some unknowing bystander when you have two broken ribs.
*A Blackberry can be used for internet access so you’re never far from the “Streets!”
*Quesadilla makers can be very addictive.
So until next month, don’t forget to check out the ScrapStreet forums and see what inspiration may be lurking.
